The Los Angeles quartet Warpaint is among the new bands that are reviving the hazy reverie of early-90's noise pop available for MP3 download. Warpaint is an all-girl group that mostly eschews keyboards and electronics in favor of guitars.

Their drummer Stella Mozgawa really distinguishes the group, as she guides the band through its own ether and propels the melodies and vocals of Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman. The band's 2009 EP "Exquisite Corpse" was produced by former Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist John Frusciante, and last year the group released a full-length album "The Fool". The music on this album varies form serene dream states to more anxious tones and back again. When this band performs live in concert, drummer Ms. Mozgawa lends a decidedly tribal cast to the trance-like music, making for an enjoyable show.

IKILLYA is a metal band that has just released their official debut album called 'Recon', and they've made one of the best tracks called 'E.H.R' available online for free MP3 download. The band's style can best be described as a combination of modern and groove metal, which they like to call 'street metal'. They like to describe their music as metal with an urban flare.

'Recon' has been a long time in the making as it took the band time to write and record all their songs and get their lineup right. They went through 9 guitar players in the last 6 years, and for a four-piece band changing guitar players presents a major challenge. They seem to have finally found the perfect fit with current guitar player Dave Kerr, who has been a key part of the band for the last two years.

The innovative design from French-based watch maker VEA can track everything from altitude to speed thanks to its GPS functionality.

While it can be used as a cell phone, it can't be called a smartphone in any sense. However, it does come preloaded with what could generously be called apps, which are really simple trackers of speed, calories burned, pulse and distance. The 8GB of memory in this watch allow it to serve as one of the best MP3 players which also streams video. It can be hooked up to a heart-rate monitor using Bluetooth for those who would rather not take their pulse the old-fashioned way.
